Our Purpose

For over 150 years we have been committed to one Purpose: Improving access to healthcare for all in the UK.

We've never answered to shareholders - instead, we reinvest our profits into helping our customers and clients access the healthcare they need, and supporting our communities.

Our role

Today, we improve over two million peoples' access to healthcare across the nation.

Through our network of over 8,000 (and growing) corporate clients, together we're continuing to use business as a force for good.

Our journey

Becoming B Corp certified is a natural next step in the journey we've been on for decades.

We believe the more B Corp businesses, the better the outcome for us all, our health, our people, our communities and our planet.

What being a B Corp means

What is a B Corp?

A B Corp is a business that meets high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose, verified by B Lab.

To become a B Corp, you must be externally and independently certified by achieving a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment. This is a rigorous assessment of a company’s impact on governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment.

During 2025, B Corp strengthened its global standards for business impact, equipping companies to drive meaningful, sustainable change.

What the B Corp movement means to us

In November 2025, B Lab UK celebrated 10 years of the B Corp movement in the UK. Collectively, we are showing that future-fit business models are possible, impactful, and scalable.

Being a B Corp business goes to the heart of why we exist and the positive impact we want to have as we strive to improve access to healthcare for all in the UK.

Our colleagues live and breathe our purpose in everything they do. As an example, for B Corp month (March 2025), our colleagues decided to ‘B Together’ by connecting with each other and getting moving - walking everyday to raise money for a local charity, Andover Mind.

How we became B Corp certified

In 2022, we completed our first B Impact Assessment, scoring 91.9. To become B Corp certified, the company needs to score over 80 and, every 3 years, must repeat this independent assessment process. This ensures we are maintaining the high standards that B Corp requires.

In 2025, we were proud to announce that we once again recertified, and we were delighted to improve our score to 108.4 – an increase of 16.5 points and improvements across all five impact categories!

To achieve this, we answered over 230 questions on how we run our business and care for our customers, community, colleagues and the wider environment. Our improved score has been a huge team effort and is a testament to the many improvements and investments we’ve made over the last three years, in pursuit of delivering our purpose more powerfully and being a force for good.

Here is a summary of those areas and our scores:
