Frequently asked questions
Which businesses can sign up for this training?
The Mental Health Aware bespoke training sessions are applicable to UK-based, Small to Medium Enterprises with a headcount of 250 employees or fewer.
Is this training limited to specific employees?
Any representative can register, however the individual must not have attended other recognised Mental Health training within the last 2 years. We would recommend HR, leaders/managers, Practice Managers or team leaders to sign-up primarily. We are offering each organisation up to 5 spaces, for wider awareness. (Please note, each delegate must sign up individually).
Who is delivering the training and are they qualified?
Simplyhealth/Denplan have partnered with Mental Health First Aid (‘MHFA’) England. They are a social enterprise delivering inclusive, market-leading and evidence-based mental health training and consultancy. Their vision is of a nation where everyone’s mental health matters. Together, with their partners, they create mentally healthy workplaces where people, communities and businesses thrive.
Is this full Mental Health First Aid training?
This 4.5 hour virtual Mental Health Aware course does not qualify individuals as fully trained Mental Health First Aiders. Instead, the training is designed to raise awareness and deepen understanding of mental health, both within and outside the workplace. We believe that following attendance, attendees will have increased confidence, knowledge and understanding of methods in which to support someone with a mental health issue.
Where is the training held?
The sessions are entirely virtual and will be hosted via Microsoft Teams or Zoom (subject to majority preference). You will receive further details and joining information a week prior to your confirmed date.
Will this count as CPD?
Yes, Mental Health Aware training can be used towards CPD hours and you will receive a certificate following course completion.
Do I need to do any work in advance?
You will be provided a digital workbook the week prior to your training date which you are welcome to look through, but no pre-work is required.
Is a recording available to playback instead of attending live?
The session will not be recorded. As delegates share their personal and workplace experiences of mental health, we do not think recording the session is appropriate. Please only book onto a session if you can attend the session live and for the full duration (4.5 hours). We will not be able to transfer you on to a different session or spend extra time to cover the missed content. It is therefore imperative that you are on time and can fully commit to the entire session.
What can I expect from the session?
The Mental Health Aware session offers a well-balanced mix of learning and interaction. Over the 4.5 hour virtual course, the trainer will guide you through a combination of slides and videos, while regularly referring to the workbook to support discussion and reflection.
Participation is actively encouraged, and the trainer welcomes questions, contributions, and shared reflections from everyone attending the virtual session.
Please note that some aspects of the course content may be emotionally challenging for some individuals. Your wellbeing is important to us, and creating a safe, supportive learning environment is a priority. Ahead of the session, we recommend considering who you might reach out to for support during or after the course, should you need it.
How many people will be on the course?
The maximum number of delegates per course is 25 people, plus one trainer. There will be a mixed cohort of businesses within the group, this is to encourage engagement and to discuss varied or similar experiences.
Is there a payment required?
The session is fully funded as part of Simplyhealth/Denplan’s charitable programme and commitment to use its business as a force for good. Each training space is worth £125. Please review all T&C's prior to registration.
I have some accessibility requirements, will this be considered?
Yes, please note any adjustments on your registration and we will notify the trainer to prepare accordingly. Simplyhealth/Denplan or the MHFA England trainer may be in touch with further enquiries on how we can best support you.
What happens once I have registered?
You will receive an email and date invitation from mhaworkshop.enquiries@simplyhealth.co.uk. Once you have responded confirming your space you should secure this time in your diary. Your details will then be passed on securely to MHFA England for the trainer to contact you with the session information a week prior to the scheduled session.
